While social networks may seem like a relatively easy concept, there is quite a bit that goes into them. One of the newest and most dynamic social networks that has recently hit the scene is Google’s Google+. The platform is Google´s latest and best attempt at joining the social media trend. Google+ offers many benefits that other social networks do not. Amongst the most important benefits is the backing by Google and the integration and support of Google’s entire wide array of services. Another key advantage is learning from the mistakes of previous social networks. By watching where others have come up short, it has made it easier for Google+ to really offer what people are looking for. With more and more people flocking to Google+ each day, it is important to review the steps of how Google+ works.

Creating Your Profile

The first thing that you want need to do is to create a profile. If you already have a Gmail account, creating your profile basically takes care of itself in that the service imports your account profile from your email account. From the home screen in your Gmail account you can access your Google+ profile from the header on the right hand side of the screen. If you do not have a Gmail account, just type in Google+ into your internet browser and head over to the service that way. Once you have begun to fill out your profile, make sure to fill in as much information as possible. This data will help with suggestions that the service can provide for you down the road. Next you can proceed to upload photos, videos, and as much of your personal information as you wish to share. From here you move to create circles that will define who accesses what on your profile.

Understanding What Circles Are

Google is built around a system of circles. You can think of these circles as ways of segregating your numerous contacts into different groups. You can group your high school friends into one circle, family into another, and co-workers into a third. There is no limit to how many circles you create. One of the best aspects of the circles is that you can control who has access to what information from your profile. If you do not want your employees to see those party pictures from the weekend, no more worries, opt not to share the pictures with that circle. Only involve your circles in the aspects of your life that you want them to be a part of.

Using Google+

Once you have created your groups and profiles, you are ready to use Google+. You can share you want with who you want, but there is more. From any Google site you will have access to share the information with any one of your circles. When in Google+, there is also a great feature called Sparks. Sparks is an extension of Google’s search engine. With it you can search for interests that you may want to share with those in your circles such as blogs, videos, or books. Google+ also allows you to use Android devices to store pictures on the platform the moment that you take them. There is not more having to take a picture, save it on your device, and then upload. It is all combined into one easy step. The same option exists for emails and for documents. The ease of being able to share your information is one of the greatest aspects of how Google+ works.
