If it’s not that easy, what makes it so attractive that a lot of people are getting into it?
Affiliate Marketing Provides Passive Income
Once you get your website or blog on top of search engines, it will generate money for you, 24 hours a day. You can sleep all day, and still earn form it. That is the great reward of making money with affiliate marketing program. The hard part is: to get your blog on top of search engines to be visited by thousands of visitors per day to earn a considerable amount of income.
This is where Search Engine Optimization comes in handy (more about this under SEO).
But before you read about SEO, let’s look at earning online with affiliate marketing program first.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
By definition, earning money with affiliate marketing program sounds simple. As an affiliate, you are rewarded with your marketing effort to drive traffic or refer someone to a merchant’s website to complete an offer or convert the visit to sales.
Components of Affiliate Marketing
1.The Merchant
Otherwise known as a retailer who provides a product or service through their own website. To increase their sales, they offer monetary value to other blog or website owners who will be willing to promote the merchant’s website by placing their banner or link on the affiliate’s site.
2.Affiliate Network
Companies such as Commission Junction, Google Affiliate, Shareasale, LinkShare, and Amazon are just some of the affiliate networks available for merchants and affiliates. They provide a website where merchants and affiliates meet. Some of the affiliate networks have thousands of merchant’s products to choose from. Aside from tracking each one’s sales, they also take care of the payments.
3.The Publisher
Also known as affiliate who maintains a blog or website.
4.The Customer
A blog visitor or Internet user who can be a potential customer
Payment Methods
Most affiliate programs use pay per sale or cost per action as compensation method. As an affiliate, you will be paid based on the number of sales or form submission generated by the advertisement coming from your website. Your referral’s activity on the merchant’s site is tracked for 30 to 60 days. Anything purchased or firm submitted by your referral within that certain period is a sale credited to you.
Other programs use cost per click or pay per click method where an affiliate gets a sale for every ads clicked from their website.
Now that you have a broad understanding of affiliate marketing, my next post is about where and how to find the different affiliate marketing programs available for you.
