Lesson #9: Create an Opinion Post

What have you been blogging on lately? Have you been spending the entire year stuffing your blog with posts about facts and information over and over again? Well, this is a good thing and a bad thing too. Sometimes it creates boredom on your blog. What if you went off the norm and created something that expresses your opinion?

This is one of the strongest points that distinguish great bloggers from others. A great blogger will have a strong opinion about something, and they will express it on their blog with boldness. Look at it from this point: One blogger constantly posts news articles on their blog while the other keeps on posting opinions about news and such news-making events. The one opining will definitely receive lots of comments and links from other bloggers and readers. This is how blogs become popular because they generate a long tail of discussions.10

Writing an opinion post that is relevant to your niche can be a challenge in some way. However, it is easier if you have been studying the things your readers complain about in forums and comment sections of your blogs. That is the easiest way to find something you can write about.

Why Is an Opinion Post Important?

i) Once you write your opinion, you will spark some life into your blog. First, you will trigger your blog readers to write their opinions about the topic you have covered as well. Second, a strong opinion post on a niche of your interest will give you further ideas of what to write on in your blog posts. This is because you will be encouraging readers to engage you and themselves in productive discussions.

ii) When you write an opinion on a topic that is close to your niche, you will be posting something that is more useful and interesting to your readers because they will find the post more helpful than just the normal information you are used to providing them with. Readers will understand better how the information you post applies to them and their real life situations when you write your opinion.

iii) When you write an opinion post, you show a strong character of going beyond just informing your readers. It becomes a point of engaging your readers and can become s trigger of massive interaction on your blog.

iv) An opinion post breaks your blog away from boredom. When you make that post, consider it as an effort of seasoning your food. It becomes better and more mouthwatering. Therefore, when writing, do not be afraid of controversy. Go ahead, express your strong opinion, and stand by it.

v) Opinion posts quickly turn into a community of knowledge because it is a chance for you to foster an environment where readers can agree or disagree on the things you are talking about in your blog.

To write a good opinion blog post, you will need to gather enough grace so that you write on a way that will be accommodative of a section of your readers who will probably disagree with your opinion. Although you need to be strong about your position, allow room for readers to take their own position.
