Previously, we have discussed how to find your perfect niche until we came up with a final list. Ideally, a perfect niche is something that you are passionate about. It is one that you would want to talk about, share, and write. One where you wouldn’t need to exert any effort as it comes out naturally.
Creating a blog is a perfect tool for someone who has something to share. But having a lot of competition, anybody would think of a way to outbid each other just to reach their goal of getting their blog on top of search results. Thus, the concept of keyword research was born.
Keyword research is the process of finding the words that an average user types on the search box when he is looking for some information on the Internet. By using the right keywords on strategic locations of your website, you make it easy for search engines to understand what your website is all about. Therefore, your website gets the advantage of being chosen to be on top of the list of search results when it matches the user’s query. Without keyword research, your website or blog could perish in the realm of the World Wide Web.
What are the tools involve in keyword research?
You just need one thing – a program that tracks those keywords each time a user goes online.
There are many websites on the Internet that offer such program. Some of them like Market Samurai, Wordtracker, SEMRush, and all others will allow you to use their program for free for a limited time and limited information. In the event that you will need more information, you have to pay for their service. While those programs are really useful, almost all of them rely on Google’s data who actually receives first hand information about user’s query. Why Google? It is because Google continues to be the choice of most users against its rivals (Source: Web traffic analysis conducted by Nielsen Company).
For beginners, one that I would recommend is Google Keyword Tool. It’s free, just like the others. You just have to create an account and you will have access to all keyword ideas related to your chosen topic or niche.
I have tried using the other tools that I mentioned above just to check their advantage over Google’s keyword tool (as I have said, they put a premium if you want to access more details with your keyword research, so I was curious). In comparison to Google’s, the only added feature they have is the number of web page results that use a particular keyword on their page. It is a feature that Google actually offers for free to any Internet user when they do their search, but a data that’s not part of their keyword tool. So if you are using Google’s tool for your research, all you have to do is open another tab, pull up Google.com and type your keyword on the search box. Once it returns with the result, you have the missing data that others offer for a price.

For some reason, Google does not include the number of webpages (or your competitior) that uses a particular keyword across their page.
